Sunday 20 March - Chipstead AWAY

With 21 boys available everyone gets to play (although as it is a league game playing time is not guaranteed).

It is away at Chipstead. It will be an 11am KO. Therefore arrive for 10am please. The address is Chipstead Rugby Club, The Meads, High Road, Chipstead, Surrey, CR5 3SB.

For those boys that tend to make their own way to matches please make sure you allow the extra time to get there. We are light on numbers so it is essential that everyone turns up.

Sunday 24th January - League match away to Richmond

Hi

I now have some more details about the arrangements. It is definitely a league game, as to their surprise, they have now been able to cobble together a full side of u16s.

Scheduled kickoff is 12 o'clock prompt at the Richmond ground. Prior pitch access to warmup on the pitch will be from 11.30 a.m, once the minis depart. Therefore turn up for 11.15 to be ready to go at 11.30. I am told parking eases after 11 when the minis start to depart.

See link for how to get there: http://www.richmondfc.co.uk/index.php/contact-us/finding-us

Parking is normally available at the ground, or if full for any reason there is a public car park the other side of the A316, with a pedestrian bridge back over the A316.

We will have access to a changing room

Dogs are not allowed on the grounds

If this affects availability please let me know.

Sunday 24th January - League match away to Richmond

As it is a league game we can only take 22 players. If you have not replied by close on Wednesday you will be assumed to be unavailable. Of those who say they are available 22 will be selected. However, as it is a league game we play to win and there are no guarantees that everyone will get on the pitch.

Sunday 10th January - match at home

Just in case people have not realised tomorrow is a friendly so everyone plays. Please turn up for a warm up at 11.30 and KO of 12.15. Thanks

Dave

Sunday 10th January - match at home

All

Bad weather and lots of other games have affected the availability of pitches.

We are now pushed back to a later kick off of 12.15. I suggest turn up to warm up from 11.30. We will do so in some of the side lines as we will not have access to the pitch until just after 12. We can then kick off at 12 and should be done by 1.30.

As we are having our changing rooms re built we will not be able to use those. On the plus side there will be food after the game!

Boys doing their mocks revision can now hopefully revise both before and after the match and use the match as a break period!

If this change affects your availability please let me know.

Dave

Sunday 10th January - match at home

Tour 2016

Hi

I know we have only just come back from tour but I have started turning my mind to next year. I have had some proposals through. Currently the pricing is indicative. This is because if are to fly I am relying on the prices not moving much between now and the time we would need to book in early January.

Before I put too much effort in I would like to establish if there is interest in a tour next year. The plan would be to fly on Thursday 27 Oct and return on Sunday 30 Oct.

There is some desire to fly to Spain or Portugal as the weather is better and if we are by the coast then there would be a beach so that there would be less need for organised activities which cost money.

The options being explored at the moment (and rough costs after subsidy out of funds I have managed to build up for the age group ) are:

Dublin by coach (Cost circa £250)
Lisbon - we would fly (Cost between £350 and £400 depends on flight costs)
Sitges (just south of Barcelona) - we would fly (Cost between £350 and £400 depends on flight costs)
Gijon Northern Spain - we would fly (cost around £320 to £360) although the organiser is checking that there are sufficient youth teams to play in the area. Further although the price is attractive we would be flying from Stanstead which makes arrangements much harder

So what do I need from you now? First it is an indication of whether your son would like to tour and then secondly whether you consider that we should look at Dublin or a tour where we fly or either. Obviously I will try and keep prices as low as possible and I would look to try and organise something which the majority are in favour of.

Please let me know what you think and don't wait for me to have to chase for a response.

Thanks

Dave

Training - Sunday 4th October

Hi

Just a reminder that training tomorrow is at 3pm at the club (due to the mini festival in the morning).

For those who have not paid their subs, please go to the "How to Join" section of the website (www.wmrfc.co.uk) print off the forms and bring your form with a cheque. If you have paid online but not handed in the form, I still need the form please.

For those going on tour who have not handed in their sponsored run money, please can I have that tomorrow. For those who did not do the run, please do some jobs round your house and earn some money or raid your piggy bank to contribute. It would be great if everyone can contribute to tour funds in this way as the run was to raise funds for tour shirts and other tour items. The shirts alone cost £37.50 each. The list of those that I have yet to receive money from is:

Luca Boyd
Nick Brown
Callum Drewett
Louis Fleming
Jonathan Harland
Hamish Lawless
Beau Roberts
Freddie Russell
Tom Sheppard
Alex Soriano
Jack Stace
James Verga
Conall Wilson

That amounts to quite a gap in the tour budget!

Many thanks

Regards

Dave

Sunday 4th October

Hi

As I mentioned to everyone after the match today, next Sunday we have a late start as there is the mini festival at the club in the morning. We will therefore start at 3pm on Sunday afternoon. This is a one off. The following weekend we will be back to normal with a match against Sutton & Epsom at home.

training and next week

Hi
A couple of things
1. An optimum scrum cap (black with blue trim) was left behind today. Call me if you need to come and collect it from New Malden
2. If your son is available for next Sunday's match please let me know. Team selection is on Thursday so you need to reply by end of Wednesday
3. Please remind your boys to join the Wimbledon RFC U16s facebook group

Sunday 13 September

Hi

Three things today

1. Training: Don't forget training starts later today. For those going on tour it is a 1.30 start for the sponsored run and then for everyone else it is a 2pm start.

2. Subs: If you have not paid your subs yet please pay them today. There has been some confusion about how to deal with our request for a voluntary £10 contribution to the costs of our sponsoring a first team player who will then help with training. The easiest thing is to just give me £10 and then deal with the forms in the normal way. That is what a number of you did last week (thank you). Alternatively you can give me your form and cheque with the £10 added and I will then manage the admin. The final option is that there is a space on the form for you to add an extra donation on top of the subs. You could add your £10 and then hand in the form at the registration desks. Just make sure that you then tell me that you have done this so I make sure we get the credit. Sorry it is complicated but it is worth it to have a first team player working with the boys.

3. Car parking: We are still looking for volunteers for today. There are two slots, 1.30 to 2.30 and 3.30 to 4.30. Please let me know if you can help. It would be great if our age group could put forward at least one volunteer.

See you later.
Thanks

Dave

Sunday 13 September

All

Don't forget this Sunday it is a late start. 1.30 for the boys going on tour (due to the sponsored run) and 2pm for everyone else. We will finish at 4 for when the Rugby World Cup arrives.

You may remember that I emailed asking if anyone can give a bit of time to help with car park marshalling on Sunday. I currently have no volunteers. Please can someone help and if so email me to let me know when you might be able to help. We are anticipating needing help from 3.30.

Thanks

Dave

Request for help next week

Hi

As you know we will be training from 2-4pm next Sunday due to the Webb Ellis Trophy visiting as part of the global tour. The sponsored run starts at 1.30

The club is expecting lots of extra visitors to see the trophy and so is concerned about needing extra marshalls for the local roads and on site car parking. Can anyone volunteer to give us some time? The club thinks that they will need help from 3.30. If you could let me know whether you can help (and between what times) the club can then draw up a rota to spread the load. Many thanks

Dave

Urgent lost bag - please read and check what you have at home

See below email from a parent (not our age group):

Hi Dick

At training this morning someone picked up the wrong kit bag from outside the clubhouse. The bag they picked up has no names on any item in the bag. Hectors bag (my son) has white initials HGFP on it. In the side pocket are my car keys and my mobile phone. As its my work phone and I'm self employed I am temporarily in trouble!

Could you possibly direct me or forward this to all coaches to share with their teams? The bag left at the club house with Mik is a Nike black kit bag. Shoes and kit are for a smaller kid in the minis.

Can't believe they haven't noticed yet! Have tried to call my phone without success.

Best number for me is my wife's mobile 07808 717710 or home 020 8870 3231

Thanks for any assistance.

Simon

Sunday 6th September

It was good to welcome a new face (Sean). If anyone has his/his parents email/mobile can they please let me have it so I can get him on our list for circulation.
