Wimbledon RFC in the Community - a major initiative from YOUR club needs YOUR support

Sport has always been a great way to connect with people. It has the ability to build the strongest of bonds, whether that is through competition or being part of the crowd.

Wimbledon RFC in the Community has been established to give greater focus to our Club’s social responsibilities.
We know just how important our role as a community sports club is in keeping people active, healthy and happy and we’re working to be able do more to benefit those around us, year on year.

Our initial programme is helping us work with both primary and secondary schools to provide rugby coaching and curriculum-based P.E. to support schools that may struggle to consistently meet the Ofsted required hours of physical activity.

We also work with school staff to change the way children can approach exercise, understand healthy lifestyles and help them get the most out of every session, including after school clubs, talks and club days throughout the school year.

Embracing the unique spirit of rugby and its core values, we believe that we can bring about positive change: helping children learn different skills, forge new friendships, increase their physical activity and ultimately, develop a lifelong love of sport.

The wider benefits of physical activity are well known— lowering risks of diabetes, heart disease and obesity; but great coaching experiences can have a profound impact too: building pride, improving behaviour and helping increase attainment.

This project is a real and tangible way to take our experience out to a wider audience. To strengthen old alliances, make new connections and further our ambition to be central to a healthy and active community.

How you can help us do more for our community

We have applied to the Aviva Community Fund but we need your votes to help us secure the funding we need. Simply click on the following banner, follow the sign-up process and please allocate all of your 10 votes to our Wimbledon RFC in the Community project. Many thanks. Voting closes at midday on 21 November.
With your help, we will be able to provide more than 1,000 hours of coach-led activities for all children in the local community.

Pitch plan 29 October 2017

This season the First XV are playing in their highest-ever league. They've had a tough start to the season but the lads are in great spirits and working really hard to turn the season around. They would really appreciate the support. They are playing away, but close to home vs London Irish in Sunbury - half term, late kick off (5:00 - I believe), great opportunity to start your Saturday evening off supporting the lads. If you can go and support please do....

Also this Saturday we have our first, brilliantly-organised by the social team, fireworks. ALL TICKETS ARE SOLD! So if you don't have one, don't turn up!

Onto Sunday. Given updated numbers some age groups have moved around. See below.

A Special rugby camp this half term

As you can see from the flier we have an extra special rugby camp on offer this half term.

Jordan Turner Hall will run this camp for us. Jordan has an impressive rugby CV including over 150 appearances for Harlequins and caps for England. (see link below for details)
He now coaches children both in schools and elsewhere. More recently he has achieved the height of fame by becoming part of the WRFC Senior coaching team.
