A packed calendar of events has been announced. Quiz nights, comedy nights, Christmas dos, Hogmany, the club's 150th celebrations. All details here: http://wmrfc.co.uk/social

Plus, Harlequins are hosting a Jack Fishwick Rehabilitation Charity Dinner on 4 November 2014. Some of you will know that Jack, a 1st XV player and club physio, suffered a tragic accident whilst playing last season. See more here: http://www.wimbledonrfc.co.uk/1stXVDetail/article/3760095. There are tables of 10 on sale for the full dinner as well as cheaper drink-and-dance tickets, too.

It will be a fantastic event, with Harlequins and England players coming out in support for Jack. If you'd like to go (it's being held in the Harlequin's Members Bar) please get in touch with angela.baker@systech-int.com or look at the attachments to this article. Please support this brilliant event if you can.

Sunday 5 October - lots on!

It's a busy day for the youth sides with four matches - KO at 11am - good luck all, especially the U17s in their first league match this season.

All the mini sides (except U6s who are at home) are away at a five-way mini-tournament with Chobham, Cobham, Reeds and Teddington.

U7 & U9 are at Chobham (note the 'h') - http://chobhamrugby.co.uk/
U8 & U10 are at Reeds Weybridge - http://reedsweybridgerfc.co.uk/
U11 & U12 are at Cobham (note lack of 'h') - http://www.cobhamrfc.com/

If you're at home, here's where you'll be

As always, park sensibly, enjoy your rugby and let's hope for a rain free session.

Sunday 28th September

The U18's play the first round of the national Cup 12.30 on Pitch 1 - please wish them every success.

Message from the U17s: “please note that this Sunday the U17s are trying to raise some funds for their tour to Barcelona in October. In time honoured tradition the lads will be performing this service (car washing) in fancy dress for the amusement of all and charging only £5 per car.
Please support them if you can – Many thanks , Philip U17 Coach”

There are a couple of friendlies against Kings and Old Emanuels for the U14s and U15s.
U12's are away to Warriors, so there will be a bit more room for the u10s and u11s.
It's also the last sunday that the registration desk will be in the clubhouse - please visit them to register.
Please be sensible where you park on the training pitch.
The looks changeable but favourable.
See you sunday - come on you U18 Dons!

.

Sunday 21 September - what's what

We've had a tremendous start to the season. Big numbers, great rugby, decent weather and that looks like continuing this Sunday. Two big requests:

1. Half the club have paid their subs - thanks! The other half - if that's you - there's a crack team of volunteers at the clubhouse from 0930 to make paying them as easy as possible. The club doesn't exist without the subs being paid so please pay up this weekend if you can.

2. If you're using the overflow parking (training pitch) please avoid the wet areas as it takes weeks if not months to repair the damage to the pitch if torn up by cars.

Pitch plan is attached (annoyingly it won't display) Edit- Fixed! (webmaster)

The U17's host Richmond and will be kicking off at 11am.
The U13's (inspired by their Welsh head coach) is having a possibles v probables match ahead of their first league fixture - expect Hwyl

The rest of us have training as usual under 17 degree sunshine - nice.

Pitch plan for Sunday 14 September 2014

It was wonderful to see everyone out last week, I imagine we'll see similar numbers if not more this week.

Due to the state of pitch 8 we can't play matches on it or use the whole of the pitch so the U10, U11 and U12s will be using Pitch 7 and adjacent training area.

U6-U9s are in their usual place for the time being but when U12s have visiting teams for matches we will probably put them on pitch 6, so the U9s will need to swap position.

The U17s are hosting Guildford on Pitch 1 at 11am and the u15s will be running laps around the grounds to raise money for their tour - please cheer them on.

We have the Bounce team (http://www.mybounce.co.uk/) coming down too and they will be running some sessions for some of the age groups - mostly Strength and Conditioning.

We should be able to use the training pitch for parking whilst the ground is hard - please park close together and considerately otherwise we lose another precious area to train.

Weather looks a little overcast but shouldn't cause us issues.

Don't forget to register at the clubhouse if you haven't already.

All the best - Dick Dunford, Youth Chair

Pitch plan for Sunday 7th September 2014

Here's where to find the teams. This will also be the usual pitch arrangements unless weather or matches require a change.

Pre-season welcome from Peter Arnold, treasurer

Welcome one and all to another fun packed rugby season with WMRFC. First day of the season: Sunday 7 September 2014, 10am sharp! While we start in 2014, we will end in 2015 which will mark the 150 years since the creation of the club. It is worth remembering that this club was one of the founding members of the RFU and this is something to be proud of as we put on the shirt and reflect on the tradition and philosophy that we stand for. You can read more about the history of the club here.

MEMBERSHIP/SUBS
Everything you need to know about membership rates and forms is here. Worth remembering that as the Club has charitable status a portion of the subs are paid as a form of donation. There will be a subs desk at the clubhouse for the first four Sundays of the season: 7, 14, 21 and 28 September 2014. Definitely the easiest way to settle your subs!

CHILD PROTECTION
For coaches and managers (and other volunteers) Georgina will also be running a DBS (was CRB) clinic for people whose certificates have expired or if you don't have one. Everyone over 16 regularly involved in training and working with our kids needs a valid DBS check. Please support Georgina in this. Contact her at childprot@wmrfc.co.uk and her page is: http://wmrfc.co.uk/childprot.

COURSES
During the season we will also be running various rugby-related courses that we would encourage coaching parents to join. On offer will be First Aid courses, Coaching courses and Referring courses. There will be flyers on the subs desk with the dates, names of the organiser and their contact details. Three courses are already announced: Scrum Factory, Refereeing Children Level 1 and First Aid - see http://wmrfc.co.uk/coaching-public and get booked on them.

PARKING
Please remember that the club is in the middle of a residential area and some of the roads in the area are private roads. Our parking policy tells you where to - and where not to - park. Your help in respecting our neighbours access is appreciated.

VOLUNTEERS ALWAYS WELCOME
As you can see there has already been a lot of preparation work done by many volunteers. We always need more, especially as we get bigger! So please step forward if you would like to help in any way. Players and volunteers are the lifeblood of this rugby club. The other important ingredient is the subs that help pay for this infrastructure, so please help us by paying them as soon as possible.

Have a great season and I look forward to seeing you all from the 7th September 2014. Training starts 10am sharp.

The new 2014-15 rugby season is nearly here - welcome to players new and old

The 2014-15 season at Wimbledon Rugby Football Club kicks off at 10am, Sunday 7th September 2014. This coming season sees not only our own 150th anniversary celebrations kick in but it's the big lead up to the Rugby World Cup as well. It's going to be a brilliant year to play rugby at Wimbledon Rugby Club!

If you are a bit uncertain about joining a rugby club, no need to worry! Wimbledon RFC welcomes everyone wanting to play mini and youth rugby and caters for all abilities from age 5 to 18. Newcomers are invited to try it out for a couple of weeks to see if they enjoy it before signing up for the season – you can always bring a friend as well. You can read all about the aims and history of our minis and youth section here.

We're looking forward to seeing our players back from last year (the photo above is last year's U11s having enjoyed a great Shield Final at OE's development festival), anyone looking to take up the game (whether Under 6 or at an older age), kids new to the area (Wimbledon, Raynes Park, North Surrey etc) or those thinking about trying out a new club. Last season saw record numbers of minis and youth enjoy rugby at the club and we're hoping to have even more with us in the year of our sesquicentennial (yes word geeks, that means 150th) celebrations.

So if you're new to the club/area come on down and give us a go - here's how to find us. Boys and girls equally welcome - girls can play in mixed squads up to and including U14s. We start training every Sunday (from 7 September 2014) at 10am sharp (until 12 noon). Contacts for each age group are here. Our child protection officer, Georgina, has her page updated for the season here: http://wmrfc.co.uk/childprot or she can be contacted by email (childprot@wmrfc.co.uk) if you have any questions. Shiny new Wimbledon kit can be purchased anytime online from Serious Stuff, the links are here. Also, to make it as easy as possible to buy kit, Serious Stuff will definitely be bringing their mobile shop on the 7th AND 14th of September to the clubhouse.

Once you've decided the club's for you, to become a mini (U6 to U12) or youth (U13 to U18) player at Wimbledon RFC you need to become a member of the club. Here are the fees for the 2014-15 season:

Individual Membership – £110 – Membership for 1 adult / parent and 1 child
Family Membership - £185 – Membership for 2 adults / parents and more than 1 child
There will be a subs desk running at the clubhouse on Sundays 7th/14th/21st/28th September from 09:30 - 13:00.
At the desk will will take cash/credit or Debit cards and Cheques for payment. This is by far the easiest way to take away your administrative pain for the whole of the season! Online payment is also available see here

All Minis members (up to U12s / School Year 7) are classed as full members and enjoy free access to all the home main club games (first XV etc). We also have social membership - full details on memberships are here

We're a proudly inclusive club and welcome kids of all ages and abilities who want to try out and enjoy the great game of rugby. We fully subscribe to the RFU's Core Values - Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline and Sportsmanship - see http://wmrfc.co.uk/rfucorevalues - so if you live in South West London and this sounds like your kind of club, come and play rugby at Wimbledon!
