Under 17As 2013-14

Richmond 19, Wimbledon A 19

Going to a league match with 18 players is a disappointing situtation for an age group with over 40 registered players, but so be it. However, the spirit, courage and no end of talent demonstrated by the 18 was stupendous. A tremendous draw with 3 vital league points secured. Well done all.

Too hot for Chobham

Very entertaining game yesterday. If we win enough ball, we can score tries from anywhere (7 tries, nearly as many as last week). For the next few weeks I think we should perhaps forget gold, silver, bronze and maybe just ruck, ruck, ruck and tackle. Well done all. It was good to see some players returning, Matthew and Paddy. Great to hear that Tom Morris was sent home from hospital with nothing more than a sore neck. Big game next weekend.

Easy win for U15As at London Welsh

Some excellent tries yesterday in a very one-sided encounter aganist London Welsh, won by 11 tries to 2. Great handling skills. We need to be able to defend the pick and go (remember that drill Josh showed us?).

Old Alleynians 24, Wimbledon 27

Great win after falling 17-0 behind.

Wimbledon 5, Sutton and Epsom 45

Great battling, but S&E too good.

London Irish 34, Wimbledon 12

Deserved alot more from the game. Lots of territory and possession.

Wimbledon U14A 7, Effingham 0

Hard fought win. Great defence.

Wimbledon U14A 60 Kings 0

This side beat our Bs early in the season by 40 points, so we were expecting a harder match. We ran out easy winners, scoring 10 tries.

Warlingham 17, Wimbledon 24

Happy days; a bonus point win away from home.

Twickenham RFC 22, Wimbledon Lions 17

I guess they wanted it more than us – they were well up for it – a game of two halves. Enough of the clichés!

Despite a ponderous start we did score first with an excellent, off the base of the srum run from Dylan, converted by Ben. Generally, however Twickenham were more aggressive; our rucking was

Wimbledon Lions 41 Guildford A 7

Guildford have always proved tough opposition; we lost to them the last time we played. Arriving with 15 players meant some enforced positional changes; thanks to Ross Lynch (open-side), Andrew (full-back), Ben (centre) for playing out of position. Thanks too to Matthew Cockburn for playing on in the last five minutes with an injury.

Wimbledon U14A 47, Maidstone 0

Our first outing of the season, on the first team pitch, was a very pleasing affair.

Conditions were not great - a strong wind and ever-present rain made life difficult. It was very pleasing therefore that, having lost the toss, and facing the headwind we put together a very fine first half amassing 30 points. There was real cohesion between backs and forwards, and great handling and offloading. The tackling was very good, against a team that was generally bigger than us. The turnover count was overwhelmingly in our favour. A real team effort; well done one and all.
