Parking at Wimbledon RFC

Wimbledon Rugby Football Club extends a warm welcome to all members, parents and visitors coming to our Barham Road sports ground. Please take a moment to read the following important information about parking at and around the club.

Parking is always an issue when a sporting club is within a residential area - especially when the roads closest to our grounds are private roads.

When our members or visitors act badly or irresponsibly towards our neighbours it reflects badly on us as a club.

  • It is never acceptable to block or inconvenience the local residents’ access to their own properties. Please bear this in mind when you are parking your car.
  • We would strenuously encourage car-pooling to alleviate the impact on our neighbours and limit congestion in the area.
  • Please respect and don’t park on roads where we have laid out parking cones. They are there for a reason.

Car parking within the club’s grounds

CLUBHOUSE The clubhouse at the top of Barham Road has a small car park that fills up quickly. So unless you are early for training please consider parking in one of the roads coloured green on this map.

END OF PRESTON ROAD There is parking within the club’s grounds at the end of Preston Road - this is suitable for parents of younger kids. As with the clubhouse, this car park is small and fills up early and quickly so please consider parking in one of the roads coloured green on the map.

Parking on roads near the ground

Please note the following with regards to roads around the club’s grounds:

Barham Road needs to be kept clear in case there is a need for an ambulance. Please remember you wouldn’t want your son or daughter to have to wait for emergency help if they were injured.

Please note that Hood, Preston, Ellerton, and Almer Roads, Drax Avenue and part of Barham Road are private roads. Please do not park in any of these.

If you see a “Car Park Full” sign, or if you are later than 09.30, go to one of the off-site recommended areas shown as green-highlighted roads on the map.

On Sunday mornings we have volunteer parents helping with parking marshalling. Please listen to and act on all instructions they give you. They are giving their time to help our club – please respect them and their commitment.

A downloadable version of the parking map is here.

We take our social responsibility very seriously. This means that Wimbledon Rugby Club seeks to maintain our integration with our immediate community surroundings. As such we need to have a very firm view as to what is acceptable behaviour for our members and those using our facilities when it comes to this issue.
