Sunday 25 November - Dorking Away - availability and other matters

Hi all

5 things for you today. Before that though well done to the boys. A great win (24 - 7) over Esher. Lots of really good spirit. It made so much difference that the boys started in the right frame of mind.

Moving onto the messages for you:

1. NEXT WEEK we are at Dorking for a friendly ( http://www.dorkingrfc.com/find_us.php ). We start at 10am but please aim to be there for 9.45.

2. AVAILABILITY: Please let me have availability for both 25 November and 2 December now. Everyone will play next week with priority in terms of game time for those who did not play today or did not get much/any game time

3. LEAGUE SHIRTS: We are fortunate that Berkeley Homes have provided us with league shirts. That does mean though that they have to be washed. I would like to sort out a rota for doing this. Please let me know if you are willing to take a turn.

4. CHRISTMAS DINNER: We are having Christmas dinner for the youth section on 9th December. This is 99% likely to be a sit down roast turkey lunch for the boys. Adults/siblings are welcome to attend, drink etc but there will not be seating for them. The tradition is that a couple of parents cook the turkey's at home (as the club's kitchen is not big enough to cook that many birds) and then bring them down carved at about 1.30. All of the veg etc is done at the club. The club will buy the turkeys but can I please have volunteers to cook a turkey (I am guessing we will need two for the age group - depending on numbers). Please also let me know if your son will be attending.

5. LESSONS FROM TODAY: There are two things I wanted to pick up on. First the pre match preparation is crucial to ensuring the boys start the match well. This means being on time, boots on and gum shield in is important. The second issue is a technical one to do with quick throw ins. If the other side kick the ball from open play into touch we are then allowed to have a quick throw in provided that (a) we use the same ball; and (b) the ball has not been touched by anyone other than a playing player while it is out. In short this means that where the opposition kick the ball out and it looks like a quick throw may be a possibility, please do not touch it. It was not really relevant today but it may be in the future so please take note.

Now that you have got to the end of this long email please reply on (a) availability for the next two weeks, (b) whether you will join the league shirt washing rota; (c) whether you can cook a turkey on 9th December; and (d) whether your son will attend the Christmas lunch on 9th December.

Many thanks
