A fantastic game played in perfect weather and in great spirit. We led the match for 49 minutes out of the 50 and only a last gasp try won the match for Kings. Overall this was a great improvement in the 10:0 loss v Kings earlier in the season.
It was also excellent training for us to step up a gear and face some tough opposition. They tackled, rucked and mauled as well as us and in the end both teams scored 3 tries. Their tries were scored under or near the posts and converted which made the 4 point difference in the score line.
Backs need to improve on delivery from set plays our scrum halves need to be quicker and fly-halves need to be running onto the ball. We need to be looking to make passes to a player in a better position and especially AS we get tackled or just after a breaking through the defensive line. Miles Adams came on in the second half and made two superb try saving tackles to earn a "Player of the Match" ball.
Forwards need to be 10% quicker to breakdowns, hitting rucks and mauls in threes and fours instead of ones and twos, 10% more aggressive and 20cm lower in body position for more effective driving. Alex Steer and Rob Farr were outstanding "Player of the Match" forwards with great ball ripping and driving in the mauls and some tremendous aggressive runs.
