INFO FOR SUNDAY 13TH AND OTHER EVENTS/REQUESTS

Dear all,

great to have you all back last week and for those who could not make it last week hope to see you this Sunday. A lot of info this week but please read all , and importantly I NEED TWO MORE VOLUNTEERS FOR BBQ 11.30 ONWARDS AND ONE VOLUNTEER TO HELP OUR RESIDENT DENTIST WITH GUM SHEILD FITTINGS ( SEE BELOW FOR INFO) THIS SUNDAY!

I will also be sending you an invite to join the offical website, this way I can post messages on that and you can dip in and out to get info on the club and events etc. and emails can go through it rather than clogg up my home email , so watch out for that later today.

Training at home for all ! General 10 am start but at 9.30am we shall have special coaching for:

Backs – scrum half pass ( ALL Backs
welcome )
Forwards – Lineout throwing –
ALL would be Hookers + any other interested forwards as this is a useful Team
Skill ie – Hooker does not have to be the one who throws the ball into
the lineout

Please can I have those registration forms in a.s.a.p along with cheques £110 for family ( please give to manager of oldest child ) and £75 for one child. I am away this week at a university reunion but Paul will collect in my absence.

Plus if you have not already done so please can you give Philip your availabilty over the next few weeks.

I still need two volunteers for the 11.30 onwards BBQ slot this Sunday , it is a lot of fun and no visiting teams so should not be too manic.

Lost Property - last week someone left a black long sleeved rash vest , Lucy or Jeff have this if it your child's.

Gum Sheilds

One of our parents, Phil has very kindly offered his time and expertise to provide dentist fitted gum shields to anyone who wants one. They will be in club colours with the players name inside them so no more lost ones. These are generally regarded as providing significantly more protection than the usual boil and bite option. This is partly because of the better quality but perhaps more importantly because players are more likely to keep them in because they fit well and are therefore more comfortable to wear.

Phil, or the Phil the drill as he is affectionately known will set up a make shift shop from next week. He will provide the gum shields to us for cost price (excluding his labour etc which he won’t accept any money for) but as this is so much cheaper than the cost you would pay if you went to your own dentist we are rounding up the figuret to boost club funds and get us nearer to building the extension. (It will be up by next season if all goes well)

The cost per player will be just £30.

Phil can’t do it on his own though and will need a couple of helpers at all times. Hence my suggestion of a rota before (albeit it with the wrong dates)

Anyone can turn up at any time to get theirs made but we need to provide help in an organised way. Can you pass the info onto your parents and tell them they are on the rota to support him as follows. (probably makes sense for most of the age group to try and get theirs done when their on the rota)

Week 1. 13/9 at least one each from Under 11s and 12s

Week 2. 20/9 at least one each from Under 15s and 16s

Week 3. 27/9 at least one each from Under 17s and 18s

Week 4. 4/10 at least one each from Under 13s and 14s

B Festival 11th October - Our annual B Festival is not that far off and as it gets nearer I will be asking for volunteers. We are also short of raffle prizes and sponsors/advertisers. If you have anything to donate for the raffle please let me know a.s.a.p and if you or any businesses you know of would like to either donate a raffle prize or advertise please, please come forward. Advertising rates are £50 for a full page , £25 for half a page and £10 for a mention. There will be around 1000 kids and their parents attending from other London/Surrey clubs and the usual contingent of local parents.

Look forward to hearing from you all with offers to help, prizes and sponsors!

Regards,

Yvonne
