Hi

Two things for this weekend.

1. We are at home to Esher this weekend. Please meet at the club at 9.50 for a 10am start. Every boy will play. It is likely to be cold so please bring extra layers for your son so that he does not get cold if standing on the touchline.

2. Geof has kindly agreed to organise a parents curry on Friday 9th at Chutneys in central Wimbledon. If you are interested please email Geof ( geoffnwilson@blueyonder.co.uk )

I look forward to seeing you all on Sunday

Dave

Sunday 21 Oct

Hi

For those playing this Sunday we are meeting at Wimbledon Warriors at 143 Coombe Lane, Raynes Park, London, SW20 0QX. The session will start at 10am but for those there a bit early we will play touch to get people going.

I understand that the parking can be bad and you may need to park on Cambridge Road.

I look forward to seeing you on Sunday

Dave

Sunday 21 Oct

Hi

A good turn out today. Next week we are at Wimbledon Warriors for a local derby.
So far I have only had 6 replies re availability for next week and also for the 28th. If you have not replied please can you do so now so that we can select the line up before the weekend. As with other weekends we plan to ensure that everyone gets to play.

Thanks

Dave

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

We hope you are enjoying the start of the season – both for Quins and your own season. After a summer of 17 highly successful rugby camps with 1200 children in attendance, we are running more camps this October half term. With Harlequins contending for the top of the Aviva Premiership after a solid start to the season, it really is a great time to learn ‘How to play the Quins way’.

What does it mean to ‘Learn to play the Quins Way’? We spent time developing a coaching programme for camps that incorporate the style of coaching used for the first team. This is made up of 4 key elements that make up ‘Quins Style’ come along to find out exactly what they are…

Camps are suitable for all abilities; boys and girls, with age specific coaching for children aged 6 to 14 (Haslemere is open to U16’s).

Find your nearest coaching location and book online at www.quins.co.uk/rugbycamps

Please see full schedule below;
The course includes 2 tickets (1 adult, 1 child) to Harlequins Vs Gloucester on Saturday 3rd November.

Venues
29th October – Lewes RFC – 3 Days - £90
29th October – Whitstable RFC – 3 Days - £90
29th October – Haslemere RFC – 3 Days - £90
1st November – Twickenham Stoop - £70

Our best wishes for a start of the season and we look forward to welcoming you to one of our Rugby Camps.

Kind regards,

Gerald Kelly

Training - tomorrow Sunday 7th October

Hi

Just so you know we are training on the first team pitch tomorrow (ie over on the right when standing in front of the clubhouse looking down at the pitches).

We have two of the clubs specialist coaches (Jim and Steph) with us tomorrow, so please make sure you are there before 10am so that we can make the most of it before Jim moves off to another age group. A touch game will start at 9.50am

See you tomorrow.

Regards

Dave

Sunday 7 October - Normal Start Time 10am

Well done to everyone today. Although we lost three of the sessions we finished with a good win against a side which is a division above us in the leagues. All the boys played well and there were lots of good tackles. What is particularly good is our strength across the age group.

Next week we have training at home. The session will start at the normal time of 10am but with a touch game starting for those who can get there early at 9.50 so that they are nicely warmed up to make the most of the session.

See you next week

Dave

Sunday 30 September - Slight change of plan - Start 11am

Dear all

Having been given some wrong info at the start of the season I now find out that there is no 10k run. However, I found out too late to change arrangements for Cobham so we will still start our match at noon. However, the good news is that it gives us a bit more time for pre match practice so WE WILL NOW START AT 11am on Sunday at the club. We will still aim to finish at 1pm. Food will then be served in the clubhouse.

Everyone will play so please make sure you turn up.

See you on Sunday

Dave

Sunday 30 September - LATE START 11.30

Dear All
Well done to the boys today. Sutton and Epsom are a good side in a higher league than us so to come away with winning one third and narrowly losing another, was a good performance in hard conditions. Thanks also to the injured boys who turned up to support.

Next week we are at home to Cobham who are a division one side but who we did well against in the Surrey As. It is likely to be a close match.

Please note that due to the annual 10k run at the club IT IS 11.30 START WITH THE MATCH KICKING OFF AT NOON. Please do not be late. We should finish by 1.30. If the weather looks bad please remember extra layers as some boys got cold today.

I think I have had responses from most people regarding availability for both next week and 14th Oct. Those that I have yet to hear from are:
Freddie Bird
Billy Dooley
Daniel Elcox
Freddie Elmberg
Joe Langstaff
Hamish Lawless
Sam Park
Freddie Russell
James Verga
Conal Wilson

Please let me know availability for BOTH 30 Sept and 14 Oct.

I look forward to seeing everyone next weekend.

Thanks

Dave

Harlequins - Saturday 15th September

Hi

Further to my email last night, one boy cannot use his tickets (one adult and one child ticket) for the Harlequins vs Sale Sharks match next Saturday. He has given them to Mike Shepperd (Tom's dad) who is going. If anyone would like them please give Mike a call on 07817 533 937. First come first served.

As mentioned last night, those wanting to travel in a group can meet up at 1.30pm at Wimbledon station on Saturday before travelling to the game for a 3pm kick off.

Dave

Training 9th September

Hi all

Thanks to everyone who made it today. A good turnout and a step up from last week in terms of focus and output. A few new calls were introduced this week and it was good to see boys trying them out in the practice at the end. Attending training is really important if boys are going to know the calls.

Next week we will start trying to get more structure in terms of positions and also look at the starting line up for the match the week after. As a friendly though, we will do our best to use the whole squad.

A couple of announcements.
1. If you have not paid your subs please do so next Sunday (thanks to Lucy and Ros for manning the Registration Desk today).
2. For those boys that participated in the Harlequins training camp over the summer and who have tickets for next week's Harlequins match, a group of dads and sons will be leaving from Wimbledon station at 1.30pm. If you are interested in travelling in the main group, please email me and I will try and co-ordinate further.
3. Polo shirts: We are getting there with trying to sort something out via the club. Don't buy anything yet and wait for me to update you when I have progressed thing with Serious Stuff.

I look forward to seeing you all next week.

Dave

Training - 2 September

It was good to see so many boys back today and a special welcome to our four new joiners.

There is a lot for us to do in these first few weeks before our first match on 23 September, so please try and make the upcoming training sessions if you can. We introduced two new calls today and have others to introduce over the coming weeks.

A special thanks to everyone that paid their subs today. I think we are probably ahead of any other age groups. Thank you.

If you have not already read the introductory letter for the start of the season, please do (If you need me to email a copy let me know). There is lots of information in there about what to expect. One thing which we mentioned was the need for boys to have a Wimbledon polo shirt for matches. I had a chat with Serious Stuff today and will be able to get a better price if we order as a block. I will find out more from them during the week and let you know more next weekend. The shirts that we are looking at are the navy blue polo shirts with the Wimbledon logo on the chest. They are not shown on the website but are used by the first team.

See you all next weekend

Dear All

Just a reminder about training at the club this Sunday at 3pm to 5pm. As before emphasis on fun and fitness. Please let me know if you can make it as that will allow us to plan accordingly.

Boys should bring their gumshields, as there will be contact play/practice.

Thanks

Dave

Training - today 5th August

Sorry I should have said last night - for those coming today please bring your gum shield. While we will not be playing contact rugby, there will be some drills which could involve a few knocks so it is bettter to be safe than sorry.

Training - 5th August

Thanks to everyone who has responded re training tomorrow. So that we can plan, if you have not replied please let me know if your son will be at training from 3 to 5 pm tomorrow.

Training - 5th August

Hi

Just a reminder about training this Sunday 5th August at 3pm (finish 5pm). Again the emphasis is on fitness and having fun, as opposed to formal drills. Please let me know if your son plans to attend so that we can plan accordingly.

Many thanks

Dave

Training - 5th August

Well done to everyone who made it today and thanks to all of those who let me know that they were not available. A great turnout with 15 players. Well done to James Verga for reaching level 11 on the bleep test. Everyone really put their heart into the fitness exercises and this will undoubtedly pay dividends next season. There was also some great handling in the game of touch rugby.

The next training session is Sunday 5th August at 3pm (finish at 5pm). Please put it in your diary now. I then have a final session pencilled in for Sunday 26th August.

Training - 15 July 2012

Hi

If you have not responded to say whether your son will be coming to training this Sunday at 3pm, can you please do so, as this will give us an idea of numbers and allow us to plan accordingly.

As before if the weather is bad we may cancel so in that case please make sure that you check the website before you leave. Fortunately though, the weather is looking OK for tomorrow at the moment.

Many thanks

Dave

Training - 15 July 2012

Hi

This is the reminder for the next summer training session for Sunday 15 July 2012 at 3pm - finish 5pm. As before it is about fun, fitness and the boys hanging out together. It is non contact.

Please let me know if you will be able to make it so that we can plan accordingly. I still have the fitness scores for those that came last time, so it will be interesting to see if they improve and if those who could not make it can better things.

Footwear is studs or trainers - it is your choice and really depends on how much more rain we have. If you are due to buy boots for next season, go for trainers as there is no point buying new boots now when your son's feet may grow further over the summer.

If the weather is bad please keep an eye on the website for a late cancellation.

Training - 15 July 2012

Well done to everyone who turned up for training today. I am sure that they will all sleep well tonight as they were really committed to all of the fitness exercises. It was also good to see that the boys played touch really well with some great passing and good linking.

The next training session will be 15 July at 3 pm at the club (weather permitting). Please put it in your diary now. I will send out an email reminder nearer the time. At that time I will also let you have details of the other sessions that we will run over the summer.

If you son is craving rugby, don't forget the Harlequins Summer Camp at the club on 23, 24 and 25 July. Details on the website on the home page.

Thanks

Rugby Training this Sunday 24th June at 3pm

Dear All

I know that the season only finished a few weeks ago but we are already starting to think about next season and building team spirit. With this in mind we are going to run a few fun sessions over the summer with the first being this Sunday 24th June at the club at 3pm. The second is pencilled in for 15th July but we will confirm that nearer the time.

The idea is to have fun, do some fitness work, play some touch and generally get the boys hanging out together. The session will last for 2 hours.

I hope that lots of boys will be up for it. If so please let me know by email so that we have an idea of numbers and can plan accordingly. We have gone for late afternoon so hopefully it will not clash with cricket etc and it will be just about the time when you feel that your son needs to come off the xbox/playstation etc.

I hope to see you on Sunday. If the weather is bad keep an eye on the website as we will cancel rather than have a miserable time in the rain.

WMRFC U12s End of Season Parents Dinner 20 April 2012

Dear All

The end of the season is in sight and I am sure that you are all gearing up for the festivals and then looking forward to a long and easy summer.

Before everyone disappears off for the summer, we thought it might be good to have a parents get together on Friday 20th April 2012. This will give us an opportunity to look back on the season and forward to next season.

Effingham Fixture Cancelled

Hi all,

Effingham have cancelled our fixture this morning due to their pitches being frozen. Unfortunately our grounds have been fully allocated to youth matches so there is not scope for home training, so I am afraid that we need to take the week off. I hope to see you all fully refreshed and ready next week.

Alec

Festival Cakes

At the festival this Sunday, to help with fund raising we will have a home-made cake stall. Please help out by bringing down some cakes for us to sell, if you can help, let Jane know by emailing jane@noser.net .

Festival Selection Week

Just to let you all know, with two festivals coming up in the next 4 weeks the squad will be playing a lot of Rugby this weekend, for selection purposes we will be playing a ‘Possibles v Probables’ match to give us an idea how different kids play together. These squads will not be set in stone for the whole season, I want to encourage as many kids that can compete in the A team as possible to get a chance, but if your child does want to play in an A team, this will be a good week to get noticed.

Sunday March 20th -

This Sunday
As the exciting end of the season is fast approaching us we have a very important training session this weekend as it is the last before the Surrey Festivals. Please all arrive on time, we need focus and still have some things to work on.

Following the training session there will be the end of season prize-giving so hang around for lunch and a rousing speech from our very own Adam.

Last Sunday
A very good training session, working on improving scrums and the defensive line/tackling, the squad worked well for a very hard and focused session.

Sunday December 5th

Guys, just in case there is any confusion, we won't be holding a training session today. Even though a lot of the snow has melted, the pitches are so soggy they would be wrecked if we played.

Save the day - Grand reopening of the Clubhouse 27th November

Dear all,

as many of you may already know we are planning to throw a serious bash to launch our new clubhouse on the 27th November - I know how much we will all miss the tent! This will be an all day affair with the 1sts and 2nds at home against local rivals Sutton and Epsom - with a mini's curtain raiser prior to the 1's game. In addition the Gatorade team are coming down at lunch time to coach a mini's/youth training course and there may be a few famous faces with them.

WMRFC - Ball Saturday 22nd May 2010

I'm sure you have all "saved the day" now here are the details!

Wimbledon Minis/Youth Rugby Club Ball

Saturday 22nd May 2010

I hope by now that you have heard that following the great success of our last ball we are organising another one on the above date to raise money for the new clubhouse. The tickets (£80) are on sale as from today but I would appreciate it if you could email everyone in your year so that they can put the date in their diary now! It should be a great night – live band, vodka luge, wishing tree, DJ, auctions, bucking rugby ball (!) and so on...

Sunday 7th February

Last Sunday saw a hardy group of players train at Barham Road. Although we were restricted to a "non contact" session, it was great to see the ball being passed up and down the line, and some fantastic runs.

Congratulations to William Barnett who was awarded Player of the Week.

This Sunday we are at home to local rivals Old Ruts. It has been a few years since we last had a club fixture against them, so even allowing for absentees due to the National Schools, (cancellation last Sunday and subsequent re-arranging for this Sunday) a good turnout, arriving no later than 9.45 please!
